On April 5, 2012, H.E. Wang Zonglai, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica, Hon. Matthew Walter, Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Ian Douglas, Minister for Tourism and Hon. Reginald Austrie, Minister for Housing, made an inspection of the Modern Horticulture Demonstrative Centre under construction at One Mile Portsmouth.

Both sides commended highly on the achievements of the China-Dominica Agriculture Technical Cooperation Project, which started 7 years ago, and its tangible benefit to the Dominican people island wide. They are satisfied with the building progress of the new demonstrative centre and are confident that it will lead to even greater successes and become a model of sustainable development of agriculture in the Caribbean region.
