Ambassador Yang Youming spoke at Commissioning of Services of Scarborough General Hospital

On Apr. 4, 2012, the Commissioning of Services of the new Scarborough General Hospital was held in Tobago. The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, the Honourable Dr. Fuad Khan, Minister of Health, the Honourable Orville London, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly were present with other distiguished guests and delivered their remarks.
H.E. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, attended the event and made warm remarks. He offered his sincere congratulations for the Commissioning of Services of the Hospital, and wished that it would play a pivotal role in improving the lives of the people of Tobago. He highly praised the Hospital as a high-quality project, and China Railway Construction Coporation Ltd, the contractor, which was one of the best construction companies in China, for their dedication and professionalism. As Chinese Ambassador, he said he was very proud of them. Ambassador Yang said that China and Trinidad and Tobago had always enjoyed excellent bilateral relations since the establishment of the diplomatic ties in 1974. The Scarborough General Hospital had become another symbol of friendship between the peoples of China and Trinidad and Tobago. The commissioning of the hospital again demonstrated that the cooperation between the two countries was mutually beneficial and in the best interests of the two countries and two peoples. He wished a continued development of the bilateral cooperation in the future.
China Railway Construction Corporation Ltd. took over the unfinished the project of Scaborough General Hospital in 2008. The company spent more than 3 years to finish the construction of the hospital building and the installation of medical instruments. The Hospital is said to be the most comprehensive and modern hospital in the Caribbean region.
