On February 14, 2008, Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun held talks with Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria Kaura. Both sides exchanged opinions on the China-Nigeria relations and other issues of common interest and agreed to strengthen the high-level exchanges and push for the in-depth development of China-Nigeria strategic partnership.
