On February 22, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met with a visiting delegation headed by Cecilia Romero, head of Mexico's National Institute of Migration, and held a dinner in their honor. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties as well as consular and migration cooperation. Wu spoke highly of China-Mexico relations and thanked for Romero's efforts in facilitating Chinese people going to Mexico. He stressed that consular and migration agencies of the two countries should continue cooperation to facilitate personnel exchanges in a bid to further promote the development of bilateral relations. Romero agreed with Wu's comments on bilateral ties, saying that Mexico's National Institute of Migration will take measures including simplifying visa formalities to contribute to bilateral personnel exchanges.
