On March 5, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met respectively with Portuguese Ambassador Rui Quartin Santos and Czech Ambassador Vitezslav Grepl to China in the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Wu exchanged views with the two ambassadors on bilateral ties respectively. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of China-Portugal diplomatic ties and the 60th anniversary of China-Czech diplomatic relations. Wu hoped that both sides will make joint efforts to push bilateral ties to a new level. Wu also briefed on China-EU ties, expressing hope that the two countries will make even greater contributions to development of China-EU relations.

The two ambassadors said their governments attach great importance to cooperation with China and are ready to join hands with China to push for new progress of bilateral ties and China-EU relations.
