Dai Bingguo Talks over Phone with Indian National Security Advisor Narayanan

2008/03/30

On the afternoon of March 30, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Indian National Security Advisor M. K. Narayanan held a telephone conversation. Both sides made positive comments on the development of China-India relations and exchanged views on issues of common concern.

Dai briefed Narayanan on the serious violent crimes that occurred recently in the Tibetan capital Lhasa. He also expounded China's position on and concerns over the issue and expressed the hope that India would continue to show understanding and support to China. Narayanan said Tibet is part of the Chinese territory and India does not allow Tibetans to conduct anti-China political activities in the country. India will always stick to this position as it has been doing all along, he added.

The two officials expressed willingness to work together to achieve positive new progress in boundary negotiations between the two countries.

Narayanan said he wished the Beijing Olympic Games complete success.
