Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo Meets with Juergen Trittin, Deputy Chairman of the Green Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag

On April 1, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo met in the Chinese Foreign Ministry with Juergen Trittin, Deputy Chairman of the Green Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag. Wu spoke highly of China-Germany relations, saying that the Chinese government has always attached importance to ties with Germany and holds that to maintain and develop sound bilateral ties conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries an their peoples. China is ready to make joint efforts with Germany to take into consideration each other's core interests based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefits and non-interference in each other's internal affairs and properly handle differences so as to push forward bilateral ties. Trittin said Germany-China relations are on a track of sound development and the German parliament and people from all walks of life share consensus on strengthening cooperation with China. China's reform and opening up endeavor has scored enormous achievements in economic and social fields as well as in international cooperation and the handling of any global challenges can't go without China's participation, he added. Trittin also wished the Beijing Olympic Games a great success. Trittin, also former chairman of the Green Party and federal minister of the environment, is scheduled to pay a visit to China, the fifth of its kind, at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from March 31 to April 2. Besides Beijing, he will also visit Jiangsu and Shanghai.
