From December 2 to 3, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei attended in Tokyo a preparatory meeting for a Nuclear Security Summit to be held next year, expounding the Chinese government's principled position on nuclear security. He said China attaches importance to the U.S.-initiated nuclear security summit scheduled for next April and hopes for positive outcomes at the summit to push forward relevant international cooperation and safeguard common security of all countries. During the preparatory meeting, He Yafei also exchanged views with heads of the delegations from Russia, Pakistan, Egypt and other countries on issues related to the summit.
