On December 10, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun and visiting Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi held the fourth round of strategic consultations between the two Foreign Ministries. Both sides made positive comments on the sound development of China-Oman relations, expressing willingness to work together to continue enhancing exchanges and cooperation in political, economic, cultural and other areas. Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Following the consultations, Zhai and Badr, on behalf of their respective governments, singed an agreement between the two governments on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, service and special passports.
