On the night of Feb. 27, 2011, State Councilor Dai Bingguo paid a special trip to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Accompanied by Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao, he visited the comrades who have been working day and night for the evacuation of Chinese citizens in Libya.

Dai visited the Consular Protection Center and the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs. He shook hands with the staff and asked about their health and work. He encouraged the staff not to forget to take care of their health while working and strive to strike a balance between work and rest.

Dai said that although there was turmoil in Libya recently, the comrades of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs deeply understood the instructions and spirits of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and firmly implemented them. They closely followed and judged on the development of the situation. They were not afraid of hardship. They, in a strong fighting spirit, worked closely with brother departments and managed to evacuate 23,000 people in less than 7 days. It was a significant achievement. They implemented the concepts of taking people as the center and governing for the people with their concrete actions, which also produced good repercussions both domestically and internationally. Dai stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to redouble the efforts and work in close collaboration with brother departments to evacuate all the Chinese citizens safely and quickly.

All the comrades on duty expressed that they would turn the care and encouragement of the leaders of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council into new driving force in their work. Under the strong leadership of the party committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they would go all out to successfully complete the evacuation mission.

Dai also said that Greece, Malta, Egypt, Tunisia, and Turkey have provided China strong support and help in the evacuation efforts. China would like to extend sincere thanks and would never forget their support and help.
