Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun Attends the Reception on the SCO's 10th Anniversary
On June 17, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun attended the reception on the 10th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) hosted by the SCO Secretariat in Westin Beijing Hotel.
Zhang and the SCO Secretary-General Muratbek Imanaliev addressed the reception respectively and visited the photo show on the SCO's 10th anniversary. Zhang said that the establishment of the SCO conforms to the trend of the times and the SCO has made remarkable achievements. The "Shanghai spirit" of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respecting civilization diversity and seeking common development has withstood tests of time and history and can serve as the norm of handling country-to-country relations. The Astana Summit which was just concluded has defined the development direction of the SCO within the next 10 years. Next year China will hold the presidency of the SCO and will faithfully fulfill its responsibilities, wholeheartedly support the work of the Secretariat and Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, join hands with all the other SCO members, observers, dialogue partners and relevant countries to actively implement the consensus reached among the heads of state of countries, make a good beginning for the SCO in the second decade and make greater contributions to building a harmonious region with lasting peace and common prosperity.
In his speech, Imanaliev reviewed the development achievements of the SCO since it was established 10 years ago, introduced the important outcomes of the Astana Summit and noted that the SCO members will continue to work together to promote cooperation, maintain regional peace and stability and benefit people in the region.
Prior to the reception, Zhang and Imanaliev held a brief meeting.
