Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying Meets with Speaker of the Belgian House of Representatives Flahaut

On October 11, 2011, Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying attended the China-EU working consultations in Brussels. She met with Speaker of the Belgian House of Representatives and Vice President of the French-speaking Socialist Party Flahaut during the stay. The two sides exchanged views on China-Belgium relations, China-EU relations, the European debt crisis and other issues. Chinese ambassador to Belgium Liao Liqiang was present at the meeting.
Fu spoke highly of the development of China-Belgium relations and thanked Flahaut for his efforts of promoting the relations of Belgium and EU with China. Exchanging opinions on the European sovereign debt issue, Fu said that China supports the measures taken by Europe to solve the crisis and expects to step up cooperation to handle the challenge. China issued the whitepaper of China's Peaceful Development lately, elaborating the policy of peaceful development in great details and clearly showing the determination of following the path of peaceful development. Flahaut extended welcome to Fu. He said that China is an important member of the international community and enjoys rising international status. Belgium values the role of China in the international community. Both EU and China are major forces of maintaining world peace and stability and promoting common development. Belgium hopes to deepen cooperation with China and help boost the growth of EU-China relations.
