
On April 10, 2013, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Australia's Foreign Minister Bob Carr in Zhongnanhai.
Yang said with the joint efforts of both sides, Prime Minister Gillard's visit to China has achieved important results and in particular the two sides have established a strategic partnership based on mutual trust and mutual benefit as well as the prime ministers' regular meeting mechanism. China is ready to work with Australia to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and to promote the further development of Sino-Australian relations.
Carr said that Australia attaches great importance to relations with China. The establishment of China-Australia strategic partnership and the prime ministers' regular meeting mechanism lays a solid foundation for the two sides to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in various fields and is of great significance. Australia is ready to work with China to push forward bilateral strategic partnership.
