Tang Jiaxuan Meets with US Assistant Secretary of State Hill

On July 7, 2006, Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai. Tang indicated that China is deeply concerned over the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. China has all along been committed to preserving peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, realizing denuclearization there and pushing forward the process of the six-party talks. China is willing to continue making constructive effort to this end and maintain close contact with the parties concerned. Hill noted that the US attaches importance to the six-party talks and is ready to solve the issue through diplomatic efforts. Prior to that, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with Hill and Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei also held talks with him.
