In 2010, the friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and Niue continued to develop steadily.

In October, Premier Wen Jiabao sent a message to Prime Minister Toke Talagi, extending congratulations on Niue's Constitution Day. In August, Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai met with Prime Minister Talagi on the sidelines of the Pacific Islands Forum Post Forum Dialogue held in Vanuatu.

In October, Prime Minister Talagi came to China for Niue's National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo. He attended the event together with the Chinese Representative Ju Yijie, who was Deputy Commissioner General of the Chinese Government for the Expo, and met with Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai Yang Xiong.
