Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo Holds Talks with US Deputy Secretary of State Zoellick

On January 24, 2006, Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo held talks with visiting US Deputy Secretary of State Robert B. Zoellick.

Both sides held that in the past year bilateral relations have maintained positive and steady development momentum, which not only conforms to common interest of both countries, but also has strongly promoted peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific Region and the world at large.

Both sides indicated that President Hu Jintao's visit to the US this year is a great event in bilateral relations and is of great significance to comprehensively advancing bilateral constructive cooperative relations in the new century. Both sides will make joint efforts to seriously make preparations, strengthen dialogue and exchanges, build up mutual trust and properly handle related issues according to the principles of the three China-US joint communiqués in a bid to ensure sound and steady development of bilateral relations.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth, constructive views on major international and regional issues of common interest.
