Press Release of the Fourth Meeting of the Council of Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization
On March 30, 2005, the Council of Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure (RATS) of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SOC) held the routine meeting in Tashkent (the Republic of Uzbekistan). Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan attended the meeting.
After studying the situation in regions covered by the organization, the Council stressed that terrorism, separatism and extremism continue to threat the stability and security of its member states.
The Council noted that joint efforts will be made to further build up the anti-terrorism potential of its member states and fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
Director Casymov. V. T. of the Executive Committee of RATS made a report on the implementation of the resolutions made by the Council.
The Council made a series of resolutions on the current work of RATS and further building the legal basis of cooperation in fighting against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
The participants agreed to hold the next meeting in Tashkent in the first half of September 2005.
The Council's meeting is held in a pragmatic and constructive atmosphere.
