Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Vartan Oskanyan

On June 13, 2005, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with visiting Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Vartan Oskanyan. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern. Li Zhaoxing noted that China-Armenia relationship has been developing smoothly; with bilateral political ties getting increasingly close and the cooperation in the area of economy and trade steadily expanding. The Chinese side appreciates Armenia for its adherence to the one-China policy and its firm support on the question of Taiwan. The Chinese side is willing to consolidate the cooperation between the two sides in such fields as economy, culture, and education. The Armenian side will, as always, adhere to the one-China policy and support the peaceful reunification of China. Both sides exchanged opinions on such issues as the situation in the Transcaucasia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the reform of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN). At the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan arrived in Beijing on June 13, 2005 and kicked off his official visit to China.
