Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Departing Armenian Ambassador to China Ghazaryan

2007/10/08

On October 8, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with departing Armenian Ambassador to China Ghazaryan Vasili. Yang spoke highly of the active efforts Ghazaryan has made in his tenure for the development of China-Armenia relations. Yang said recent years have witnessed steady development of bilateral ties with pragmatic cooperation in all areas making smooth headway. During President Kocharyan's successful China visit in 2004, the two heads of states signed a joint statement, giving a strong impetus to steady development of bilateral ties. This year, the two countries, by taking the opportunity of the 15th anniversary of diplomatic ties, have held a series of celebrations which yielded good results, he said. China is ready to continue joint efforts with Armenia to promote the development of bilateral ties, said the Chinese foreign minister.

Ghazaryan thanked the Chinese Foreign Ministry and other relevant agencies for offering support and assistance during his tenure and hailed China's great achievements in national development, as well as its remarkable contributions to regional and world peace and stability. Hailing the smooth development of bilateral ties, the ambassador said there is no political difference between the two countries and the two sides have maintained sound cooperation on bilateral and international occasions. He expressed belief that with the joint efforts of both sides, bilateral relations will surely make new progress.
