Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Martynov

On March 2, 2005, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Nikolaevich Martynov. Both sides exchanged in-depth opinions on China-Belarus relations and the international and regional issues of common concern.

Li said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries 13 years ago, China-Belarus relations have been developing steadily, the mutual political trust keeps deepening and cooperation in all fields continues to expand. The two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in the international affairs. China thanks the government of Belarus for adhering to the one-China policy and supporting China's position on the Taiwan issue and stands ready to work with Belarus to push for the stable and healthy development of bilateral ties and bring benefits to the two peoples.

Martynov noted that to keep the good momentum of development of Belarus-China relations is in the interest of both countries. Belarus will resolutely follow the one-China policy and support the efforts of the Chinese government in solving the Taiwan issue. Belarus is ready to constantly enhance mutual understanding and trust and expand the mutually beneficial cooperation with China in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology.
