Vice President Zeng Qinghong Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Martynov

On the afternoon of March 2, 2005, Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Nikolaevich Martynov at the Great Hall of the People.

Zeng said that the peoples of China and Belarus enjoy profound traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, China-Belarus relations have been developing rapidly. The two countries share political mutual trust, complement each other economically and collaborate with each other in international affairs. Bilateral cooperation in all fields has achieved satisfactory results. China highly admires the government of complement for adhering to the one-China policy and supporting China's stance on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights. China is ready to work with Belarus to constantly push forward bilateral relations.

Martynov said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Belarus and China the bilateral relations have been moving forward steadily and fruitfully. Belarus firmly upholds the one-China policy and hopes to strengthen the high-level exchanges and mutual political trust between the two countries, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all fields and promote the continuous development of bilateral relations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry official Qiao Zonghuai and Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui were present at the meeting.
