Wu Bangguo Meets with Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Marian Lupu
On October 22, 2008, Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), met with Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament Marian Lupu at the Great Hall of the People.
Hailing the sound, steady development of bilateral ties, Wu pointed to the deepening political mutual trust, expanding economic and trade cooperation and increasing cultural exchanges between the two sides over the past 16 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. He said China attaches great importance to ties with Moldova and deems it a trustworthy partner and sincere friend. China is ready to work with Moldova to enhance the level of all-round friendly cooperative relations to benefit both countries and their peoples.
Wu pointed out that parliamentary exchanges are an important bridge to enhance China-Moldova friendly contacts and pragmatic cooperation. He said the NPC will continue to conduct exchanges at all levels with the Moldovan parliament to learn from each other in governing the country, promoting democracy and building the legal system. China is also ready to keep closer coordination with Moldova in international and regional parliamentary organizations, so as to make new contributions to pushing forward practical cooperation and bilateral ties.
Lupu expressed his pleasure to visit China again after five years. He said during the visit, he has seen great changes as well as economic and social development in the country, which shows that China has embarked on a right path suitable to its national conditions. The Moldovan government, political parties and parliament are all ready to keep closer exchanges and cooperation with China to push bilateral comprehensive friendly relations to a new level. He reiterated that Moldova will, as always, stand by the Chinese people on issues concerning China's key interests.
