On August 18, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev on the sidelines of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Dai appreciated Russia's full support to the Beijing Olympic Games and exchanged opinions with Patrushev on bilateral ties and issues of common concern.
