Spokesperson on President Jiang Zemin's Visit to Russia

President Jiang Zemin visit Russia this time mainly to sign the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia to legalize the peaceful philosophy of friendship for generations and never being each other's enemy, so as to demonstrate the desire and determination of the peoples of both China and Russia to be good neighbors, good partners and good friends forever. The treaty also includes the principle and direction of the cooperation between the two countries in politics, economic relations and trade, science and technology, humanity as well as in the international arena to serve as the programmatic document for development of bilateral relations in the 21st century.

During the visit, President Jiang will also have an extensive exchange of views with President Putin on major and pressing regional and internation al issues at this stage so as to work together to safeguard the global strategic balance and stability.

Apart from the treaty, President Jiang will also sign an important political document with President Putin so as to show the specific results of the visit.
