The Meeting between the Heads of the Chinese Government Border Negotiation Delegation and the Joint Border Negotiation Delegation of the Kazak, Kyrgyz, Russian and Tajik Governments Is Held in Jilin Province

2006/08/17

From August 11 to 13, 2006, the meeting between the heads of the Chinese government border negotiation delegation and the joint border negotiation delegation of the Kazak, Kyrgyz, Russian and Tajik governments was held in Yanji, Jilin province. The Chinese delegation is headed by Assistant Foreign Minister LI Hui while the joint delegation of the four countries is led by Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides reviewed the major achievements of border negotiations since the last meeting of the heads of both sides in December 2001 and exchanged opinions and reached extensive consensus on the next steps of border planning.

Both sides agreed that the smooth settlement of the border issue left over from history between China and the four countries has stimulated the progress of bilateral good-neighborly friendship and cooperation and serves the long-term interest of the five countries and their people. The two delegations will faithfully implement various consensuses reached during this meeting and make continuous efforts to build the border among the five countries into a link of peace and friendship. The heads of both delegations also signed the meeting minute.
