Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui Holds Consultations with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Veselovskyi

On March 27, 2006, Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui held political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries with Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Veselovskyi in Beijing. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues of common interest. Assistant Foreign Minister Li made highly positive comments on the achievements in development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 14 years ago, indicating that China attaches great importance to relations with Ukraine and would like to make joint efforts with Ukraine to further build up mutual understanding and trust, consolidate the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, expand mutual exchanges, strengthen consultations and dialogue in international affairs and continuously enhance the level of bilateral relations. Veselovskyi noted that Ukraine resolutely pursues the one-China policy and supports China's position on the Taiwan, Tibet and other questions. Ukraine hopes to maintain high-level exchanges between both sides and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas and would like to work with China to push for steady progress of bilateral relations.
