Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Adham Shadmanov, Vice Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Supreme Assembly of Uzbekistan

On November 23, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Adham Shadmanov, vice speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Supreme assembly of Uzbekistan.

Both sides spoke highly of the achievements made in the development of bilateral ties since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 15 years ago, expressing willingness to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. They also agreed to further strengthen cooperation on politics, economy, trade, security and humanities, keep closer coordination in international and regional affairs and upgrade the level of friendly cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Shadmanov said Uzbekistan attaches great importance to ties with China and supports China's positions on the Taiwan and Tibet questions, as well as its cracking down on "East Turkistan" terrorist forces. The Uzbek parliament is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China to push the ties for in-depth development.
