Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya Holds Consultation with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Islamov

On August 13, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Guangya held consultation with visiting Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Islamov on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other issues.
Both sides made positive comments on China-Uzbekistan relations. Wang said China attaches great importance to developing ties with Uzbekistan and is ready to work with it to push bilateral ties to a new level. Islamov emphasized that the relationship with China is a priority of his country's foreign policy.
Both sides exchanged views on the SCO cooperation, as well as its priority work, preparations of SCO major events and other issues. Wang said China will exert all its strength in supporting Uzbekistan to perform its duty as SCO president, in a bid to ensure the sound development of the SCO and continuous deepening of cooperation in all areas. China is ready to make greater contributions to lasting peace and common prosperity in the region, he added. Islamov said his country is ready to continue close communication and coordination with China within the bilateral and SCO frameworks, fully tap the potential of regional cooperation and enhance the level of cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
