2007/01/24

On January 23, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui attended the reception on the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kyrghyzstan hosted by the Kyrghyz Embassy in China. Li and Kyrghyz Ambassador to China Kamil Sultanov delivered speeches respectively. In his remarks, Li said the two countries are linked by mountains and rivers and have been neighbors to each other since ancient times, adding that the two peoples share a time-honored history of exchanges and traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties, the good-neighborly relations of friendly cooperation have maintained a sound momentum of vigorous development with frequent high-level visits, ever growing political trust and remarkable achievements of mutually beneficial cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, transportation, science, technology, telecommunications, humanities and security, said Li. All this has brought tangible benefits to both peoples, he added. The two countries have resolved their border issue left over from history in a comprehensive and complete manner, signed such important bilateral documents as the Sino-Kyrghyz Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation and the 2004-2014 Sino-Kyrghyz Cooperation Outline, and conducted close cooperation in the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other multilateral frameworks, said Li. Both sides are jointly committed to combating the “three forces” and have made positive contributions to peace and stability of the region and the world at large, he said.

Sultanov spoke highly of the fruitful results achieved in the development of good-neighborly and friendly cooperation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic ties 15 years ago, emphasizing that to develop ties with China is a priority of the Kyrghyz foreign policy. He reaffirmed that Kyrghyzstan will continue mutual support with China on key issues related to sovereignty and territorial integrity and is ready to take the opportunities of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation to push for bilateral ties.
