Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi Meets with Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Waszczykowski

On August 22, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met in the office building of the Foreign Ministry with Under Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski, who is in China for political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries.

Yang expressed welcome to Waszczykowski, saying that he believed this visit will further push forward the existing sound cooperative relations between the two Foreign Ministries. Yang said the two countries share a traditional friendship and recent years have witnessed smooth development of bilateral ties with the joint efforts of both sides. China attaches importance to developing ties with Poland and its status and role in the European Union (EU) and hailed the Polish government's adherence to the one-China policy, said Yang. He expressed willingness to work with Poland in pushing forward China-Poland, China-EU ties through enhanced communication and cooperation, so as to jointly cope with challenges faced by the mankind.

Waszczykowski spoke highly of bilateral ties, saying that the Polish government gives top priority to developing ties with China and deems China its most important cooperative partner in Asia. He reaffirmed his country's adherence to the one-China policy and support of China's peaceful reunification.
