On December 11, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Anton Niculescu in the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Niculescu is in China for political consultation between the two ministries of foreign affairs.

During the meeting, Yang extended welcome to Niculescu, expressing belief that his current visit will further promote cooperation between the two foreign ministries and push forward China-Romania all-round friendly and cooperative partnership. Yang said the two countries share a profound traditional friendship, pointing to frequent high-level exchanges, increasing political trust and expanding exchanges and cooperation in all areas. China attaches importance to developing ties with Romania and is ready to work with it to continue tapping potential and advancing bilateral ties.

Niculescu made positive comments on bilateral ties, adding that the Romanian government gives top priority to developing ties with China and is ready to make joint efforts with China to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas. He reiterated that Romania will stick to the one-China policy and support China's peaceful reunification.
