On January 28, 2008, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Wu Hongbo and Albanian Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Gurakqui held regular consultation between the two Foreign Ministries. Both sides made positive comments on the sound momentum for the development of China-Albania relations, expressing willingness to make joint efforts to strengthen pragmatic cooperation on politics, economy and culture. Gurakqui reaffirmed his country's firm adherence to the one-China policy, adding that Albania clearly opposes any form of separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence" including the "referendum on UN membership" and supports China's reunification.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common concern.
