On May 7, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Acting First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yuriy Kostenko, who is here in China for the consultation between the two Foreign Ministries.

Wang congratulated on the success of the consultation, expressing willingness to work with Ukraine to further strengthen political trust, deepen cooperation in all areas and push forward bilateral all-round friendly cooperative relations.

Kostenko said Ukraine cherishes the friendly cooperation with China and is ready to strengthen high-level exchanges between the two countries. He expressed hope that the two countries will support each other on issues involving their respective core interests to push bilateral ties to a new level.
