Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Kazakhstan's Secretary of State and Foreign Minister

On February 23, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Kazakhstan's Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern and reached broad consensus. Yang spoke highly of the sound and rapid development of bilateral strategic partnership, pointing to close high-level exchanges, deepening political trust and fruitful pragmatic cooperation in all areas. China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to comprehensively implement the consensus and agreements reached by both sides and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields such as transportation, economy, trade and humanities. Yang also expressed China's willingness to enhance coordination and collaboration with Kazakhstan under multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization so as to push forward bilateral ties. Saudabayev said Kazakhstan attaches great importance to ties with China and will actively commit to consolidating and developing good-neighborly friendship and strategic cooperation with China. Kazakhstan firmly supports China's positions on Taiwan and Tibet-related issues. Kazakhstan would work closely with China in combating the "three forces" to jointly safeguard and promote regional peace, tranquility and stability, he said.
