Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Meets with Uzbekistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Norov

On October 25, 2011, Cheng Guoping, Secretary General of the Chinese side of China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, Chairman of the Chinese side of the Security Cooperation Subcommittee of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee and Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister, met with Vladimir Norov, Secretary General of the Uzbek side of China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, Chairman of the Uzbek side of the Security Cooperation Subcommittee of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee and Uzbekistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister. Both sides exchanged views on China-Uzbekistan relations, the work of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, pragmatic cooperation in all areas and other issues.

Cheng said that in recent years, bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development with deepening political mutual trust, dynamic cooperation in various fields and close cooperation in international and regional affairs. The development of bilateral ties has made positive contributions to promoting regional peace and stability. The establishment of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee is an important decision made by leaders of the two countries. China is willing to make joint efforts with the Uzbek side to make the first session of China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee a success and push bilateral friendly cooperative partnership to a new level.

Norov said the Uzbek side attaches great importance to developing relations with China and deems China a sincere friend and reliable partner. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties nearly 20 years ago, bilateral cooperation on politics, trade, energy, transportation, technology, culture and security has developed smoothly with the joint efforts of leaders of both countries, which enriched bilateral friendly cooperative partnership. The Uzbek side is willing to work with China to give full play to the role of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee to push forward friendly and cooperative partnership.
