On August 18, 2003, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met with Ali Abdi Farah, visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Parliamentary Relations of Djibouti at Zhongnanhai.

Tang said China and Djibouti have developed their relations in line with the principles of sincerity, equality and reciprocity, and their cooperation has been continually strengthened. Tang thanked Djibouti for its adherence to the one-China principle, and its close cooperation with China in international affairs, expressing his willingness to further enhance their ties.

Farah thanked China for its long-term and selfless aid to Djibouti, stressing that Djibouti will continue its firm support for China's peaceful reunification.
