Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with His Guinean Counterpart

On the morning of October 26, 2004, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with visiting Guinean Foreign Minister Mamady Condé at the office building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties and other issues of common interest. Li Zhaoxing said that since China-Guinea diplomatic ties were established 45 years ago, the two countries have highly trusted and supported each other politically, helped and conducted closer cooperation with each other economically, and coordinated with and supported each other in international affairs. China thanks the Guinean government for resolutely adhering to the one-China policy for a long period of time. He noted that China-Guinea friendly cooperation has broad prospects and China would like to make joint efforts with Guinea in upholding the friendly tradition, strengthening political exchanges and pushing forward economic and trade cooperation so as to promote common development. Condé said that the Guinea-China friendship enjoys a time-honored history. Since the independence of Guinea, China has participated in and helped its development in various fields through many forms and greatly contributed to such development. Guinea is proud of having such a friend as China. He reaffirmed that Guinea will as always continue following the one-China principle and remain to be China's reliable friend forever. Following the talks, the two Foreign Ministers signed the Agreement on Economic and Technological Cooperation between China and Guinea. At the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Condé arrived in Beijng on October 25 to start his official visit to China.
