Huang Ju Arrives in Antananarivo Kicking Off Official Visit to Madagascar

On the afternoon of November 21, 2005, local time, at the invitation of Madagascan Prime Minister Jacques Sylla, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Huang Ju arrived in Antananarivo, kicking off his official visit to Madagascar. Huang's companions arrived in the same plane. Among those who met Huang and his delegation at the airport were the Madagascan Foreign Minister, Minister for Health and Family Planning, Minister for Public Engineering and Transportation and other senior government officials, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar Li Shuli, the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Madagascar and representitives from Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese in Madagascar. Huang delivered a written speech at the airport. He said that bilateral friendship goes back to ancient times and both sides have witnessed steady development of bilateral relations and increasingly expanded cooperation in economy, trade and other areas. China cherishes the traditional friendship with Madagascar. This visit by Huang is aimed at strengthening bilateral political consultations, building up mutual understanding and trust, expanding economic and trade cooperation and realizing common development and prosperity. Huang looked forward to exchanging views with Madagascan leaders on bilateral relations and other issues of common interest and jointly pushing bilateral relations for greater development. On the morning of November 21, after concluding his official visit to Botswana, Huang left Gaborone for an official visit to Madagascar. Among those who saw Huang off at the airport were the Botswanan Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Labor and Internal Affairs, Minister for Education and other senior government officials, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, staff of the Chinese Embassy in Botswana and representatives of Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese there. Before leaving Gaborone, Huang visited the diamond-sorting center in Botswana and listened to the introduction about the developments of Botswana's diamond industry.
