Senegalese President Meets with Chinese Government's Special Representative on African Affairs Liu Guijin

On July 30, 2009, Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade met in the presidential residence with Chinese Government's Special Representative on African Affairs Liu Guijin, also Special Representative of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

During the meeting, Wade made positive comments on bilateral ties and expressed satisfaction with the friendly cooperation between the two countries. He thanked for China's long-standing assistance to the development of Senegal and Africa at large. Wade said Senegal-China cooperation enjoys broad prospect and the Senegalese side attaches importance to ties with China and hopes to further enhance cooperation with China in all areas in the future.

Liu said that with the positive efforts of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral ties have been developing rapidly in recent years with pragmatic cooperation in all areas. China attaches great importance to developing ties with Senegal and is ready to work with it to push for sustained, sound development of bilateral ties.

Both sides also exchanged views on China-Africa relations, South-South cooperation, as well as other international and regional issues of common concern.
