Yang Jiechi Holds Talks with Senegalese Counterpart

On May 19, 2011, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Senegalese State Minister of Foreign Affairs Madicke Niang. Yang spoke highly of the fruitful bilateral cooperation on politics, economy, trade and humanities since the resumption of diplomatic ties five years ago. He thanked Senegal for its support on issues concerning China's core and major interests as well as for its close cooperation with China in international affairs. Yang said facts prove that to develop China-Senegal friendly cooperative relations is in the fundamental interest of both countries and their people. China is willing to work with Senegal to further enhance friendly exchanges, actively explore new fields and methods of economic and trade cooperation and conduct closer consultations in international affairs in a bid to push bilateral ties for sustained, in-depth development, Yang said. Niang said that President Wade and the Senegalese government are very satisfied with the sound development of bilateral ties and thank for China's support and assistance for Senegal's economic and social development. The Senegalese government firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is ready to deepen cooperation with China on trade, investment, infrastructure and agriculture, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs and push bilateral cooperation for more outcomes.
