In 2010, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Seychelles made steady progress in their exchanges and cooperation in the areas of politics, economy and trade and people to people exchanges. The friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries continued to develop.
The two countries had frequent high-level exchanges. From 5 to 7 September, NPC Vice Chairperson Chen Zhili visited Seychelles. She met with President James Alix Michel and his wife Nathalie Michel, and held talks with Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Herminie. From 27 to 28 July, State Councilor Dai Bingguo stopped over in Seychelles and met with President Michel. From 30 April to 2 May, President Michel visited China for the opening ceremony of World Expo 2010 Shanghai, during which President Hu Jintao met with him.
Cooperation in economy and trade made good progress. The Au Cap Primary School built with Chinese assistance was completed and handed over to the Seychellois side. The design for the Judiciary Complex Project was finished. The 13th medical team and the fourth group of 15 young volunteers from China arrived in Seychelles and started their work. Seychelles-related assistance projects which are part of the eight new measures of FOCAC are running smoothly.
The two countries had close communication and cooperation in education, culture and military affairs. In November, Minister for Social Development and Culture of Seychelles Bernard Shamlaye and Minister for Education, Employment and Human Resources Macsuzy Mondon visited China successively. In October, Chinese Navy hospital ship "Peace Ark" visited Seychelles and provided local people with medical service on a humanitarian basis.
