On December 13, Chinese Ambassador KUANG Weilin attended the signing ceremony of a contract between the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and China Railway International Limited on the construction of the Freetown International Airport in Mamamah. Also present at the ceremony were Minister of Transport and Aviation Hon. Mr. Vandi Chidi Minah, Minister of Finance and Economic Development Hon. Dr. Samura Kamara, Minister of Justice Hon. Mr. Frank Kargbo, Minister of Lands Hon. Capt. Momodu Allieu Pat-Sowe as well as Economic and Commercial Counsellor Mr. Liu Yulin from Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Kuang Makes a Statement
In his statement, Ambassador Kuang emphasized that the construction of the Freetown International Airport, a new symbol of the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, would greatly improve the transportation conditions and facilitate the economic development of Sierra Leone. He hoped that both sides would work closely together to make the project a complete success.

The Signing Ceremony
Minister Minah indicated that the Freetown International Airport was the first large-scale project signed by the Government of Sierra Leone in the second term of the President Ernest Bai Koroma. He was confident that the project could be completed at an early date so as to promote the economic and social development of Sierra Leone.
