On the afternoon of 17 October 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at the Great Hall of the People with Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda of Tanzania, who came to China for the 14th Western China International Fair (WCIF).
Li Keqiang said that China and Tanzania are both developing countries with profound traditional friendship. In March this year, President Xi Jinping chose Tanzania as the first stop of the visit to Africa. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Tanzania. China is ready to strengthen strategic planning with Tanzania, to consolidate traditional friendship and to implement cooperation on major projects so as to unceasingly promote China-Tanzania comprehensive cooperative partnership. China will continue to offer help within the ability to Tanzania. Hope the Tanzanian side will provide necessary facilitation and support for Chinese businesses to develop in Tanzania.
Li Keqiang pointed out that developing friendly cooperation with African countries is always an important direction for China's foreign strategy. Under the new situation, China is ready to work with African nations to seize the opportunities, to cope with challenges and to strive to create a peaceful and stable environment for achieving development, in order to push for greater development of the new type of China-Africa strategic partnership.
Pinda expressed congratulations for Li Keqiang's Southeast Asian tour, especially the visit to Vietnam not long ago making a full success and sending the world a positive signal of maintaining regional peace and stability. He expressed that Tanzania-China friendship enjoys firm basis and broad prospects. Tanzania admires the enormous achievements in China's development and is ready to learn from China for the experience, to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with China and to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, so as to further consolidate and develop Tanzania-China friendly relations. Tanzania is grateful for China's support for the cause of peace and development in Africa and is ready to enhance cooperation with China within the framework of the Forum on Africa-China Cooperation to play a positive role in developing Africa-China relations.
Following the meeting, the two prime ministers jointly attended the singing ceremony of a series of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of diplomacy, economy, trade, scien-tech, tourism and agriculture.
