On July 19, 2005, Kong Quan, Director-General of the Information Department of Chinese Foreign Ministry met with a Tanzanian press delegation headed by Habib Nyundo, Assistant Director of the Tanzania Information Services of Prime Minister's Office.

Kong said that press cooperation is an important part of China-Tanzania friendly cooperation and of positive significance to building up the mutual understanding, deepening the friendship of the two peoples and stimulating the cooperation in other fields as well. Kong introduced the functions of the Information Department of Chinese Foreign Ministry and answered questions of journalists on China's socioeconomic development, protection of the legitimate rights and interests of foreign investors in China, RMB exchange rate, China's principled stance on handling trade frictions, conservation of valuable traditional culture, Internet management and the status quo of Chinese media.

Nyundo expressed admiration for the development achievements of China, agreeing with Kong's suggestions and hoping further strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the information services and media of the two countries.

The delegation pays the visit to China at the invitation of the Information Office of the State Council of China.
