On September 17, Ugandan President Museveni met with visiting Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Lu Guozeng.

Museveni said that China had provided concrete economic and technological assistances to Uganda over a long period of time. He was pleased that both sides were taking proactive measures to promote economic and trade cooperation. Museveni indicated that he was idolater of China's last generation leaders, and now he had established good cooperative relations with China's new generation leaders, testifying a new stage of China-Uganda cooperation.

Lu forwarded the greeting from President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao and indicated that Museveni was a good friend of Chinese leaders of several generations. After the successful visit by Museveni in May this year, the two countries had enhanced frequent exchange of visits, strengthened the mutual support and enriched the mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of China-Africa Cooperation Forum. China appreciates the Ugandan government's adherence to the one-China policy, and believes that friendly cooperation between two countries will have an even brighter prospect.

Foreign Minister Assistant Lu Guozeng arrived in Uganda for a working visit on September 16. During the visit, Lu held talks with Butime, Minister of State for International Affairs and attended the handover ceremony of Ugandan Foreign Ministry Office Building constructed by China for assistance.
