President Hu Jintao Meets Ugandan Prime Minister

On the afternoon of September 9, 2003, President Hu Jintao met with visiting Ugandan Prime Minister Apollo Robin Nsibambi at the Great Hall of the People. Hu said that the Chinese people and the Ugandan people have profound traditional friendship and the China-Uganda ties have seen smooth expansion since the two established diplomatic relations over 40 years ago. China appreciated and thanked Uganda for its long-term stance of adhering to the one-China policy and firmly supporting China in international affairs. Hu said that both China and Uganda are faced with the important tasks of maintaining social stability, developing the national economy and improving people's lives. Peace and development are the common goals we seek. China had always regarded Uganda as a trustworthy friend and China was willing to keep frequent exchange of high-level visits, increase mutual political trust, expand economic cooperation and trade and consolidate the ties with Uganda in the new century. Nsibambi thanked Hu for the meeting and conveyed Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's warm greetings to Hu. He said that Uganda-China relations are developing well and the friendly cooperation between Uganda and China during the past four decades and more had brought concrete benefits to both the Ugandan and Chinese peoples. Uganda would continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy and was willing to advance the bilateral ties into a new level.
