On October 12, 2010, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks with visiting Ugandan Foreign Minister Sam Kutesa in Beijing.

Yang hailed the firm basis of China-Uganda friendly relations and fruitful cooperation in all areas, especially pointing to the strong growth momentum of bilateral friendly cooperation in recent years. Yang expressed China's readiness to deepen mutual political trust and promote bilateral cooperation in economy, trade and humanities. China will boost coordination with Uganda in diplomatic affairs to push bilateral friendly cooperation to a new high, said Yang. He said China and Africa are actively implementing the follow-up actions of the fourth ministerial meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. China is ready to maintain close coordination, consultations and communication with Uganda and other African countries so that Chinese and African people will benefit from the outcome of the meeting at an early date.

Kutesa thanked China for its support of Ugandan economic and social development and expressed his satisfaction with sound cooperation between the two countries in all areas. He added Uganda hopes to enhance cooperation with China in fields such as infrastructure, energy, tourism and agriculture and push bilateral friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
