Zhai Jun, Assistant Foreign Minister and the Chinese Government's Special Envoy Inspects the African Union Conference Center Project

On January 30, 2009, Zhai Jun, Assistant Foreign Minister and the Chinese Government’s Special Envoy, who was attending the Twelfth Ordinary Session of the Summit of the African Union Heads of State and Government, visited the site of the ongoing AU Conference Center project and the Chinese staff in the project teams and extended the greetings and best wishes of Chinese Spring Festival to them.

The AU Conference Center project is one of the eight policy measures announced by Chinese President Hu Jintao at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in November 2006 and one of China’s largest aid projects in Africa. The project was formally launched at the time when Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, visited the AU headquarters in November last year. The project is progressing well.
