On June 23, 2009, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met with Jubril Maigari, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, who is here for the fifth China-Nigeria joint committee on economic and trade cooperation.

During the meeting, Zhai made positive comments on China-Nigeria relations, expressing willingness to further expand friendly exchanges with the Nigerian side based on mutual trust, mutual benefit and mutual assistance and enrich bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Maigari said the two countries have long been committed to their friendship and their trade cooperation has been underway smoothly in recent years. He expressed belief that this joint committee will surely help deepen economic and trade cooperation and promote bilateral relations.
