On November 15, Mr. Shen Guofang, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and Dr. Paula Dobriansky, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs, held discussions on global and multilateral issues on such areas as: financing for development, poverty eradication, food aid, humanitarian and development assistance, and women's issues; clean energy, global environmental challenges and climate; international law enforcement, counter-narcotics, and trafficking in persons; and public health and infectious disease, including international disease surveillance efforts. In addition, they exchanged views on China-US relations.

They also exchanged views on the proposed "US-China Global Issues Forum", the objective of which is to strengthen current cooperation between the United States and China on transnational issues and explore new avenues for joint work on a global basis. They agreed to continue their consultations in this regard.
